The choir now numbers about
170 singers, split between the Southville group meeting on Tuesdays at the Southville Centre in Beaulieu Road , and the Clifton group meeting on Wednesdays at the Subud Hall in Wesley Place. Nickomo
and Rasullah endeavour to cover the same ground each week in each venue, so that members who cannot attend on their usual night can drop in on the other group. The whole choir gets together
at the end of each term, and for our annual Summer
Concert performed at St George’s (see 'Events').
After the Spring term (there are 3 ten-week terms per year) there is the big Choir Convention held at St George’s and organised by Nick Petts.
Other opportunities for performance arise from time to time, such as participating in community events and festivals. PONITA (People Of Note International Touring Association) arranges
and overseas engagements from time to time.
The choir is an ‘open access’ community choir, meaning that membership is available to all without audition, based on the principle that the opportunity to sing together should be available to all, and that we all have the potential to sing competently.
We provide wordsheets by e-mail, and hardcopy is also made available.
Regularly, a full contact list of choir members is sent out on e-mail.
Also we make a demo CD of the songs we are including in concerts, featuring the full arrangement and also the individual parts so that members can
practice songs away from the choir, and catch up if sessions are missed.
